RHOSLC Mary Cosby’s son arrested for allegedly violating his wife’s protection order
He's reportedly been in jail for a week
RHOSLC viewers have watched Mary Cosby open up about her son Robert Jr’s addiction on camera, and now his legal troubles are back in the headlines.
According to new reports, he has been arrested again in Utah, this time accused of violating a protection order connected to his estranged wife, Alexiana, per Starcasm.
While Mary has recently spoken to People about trying to see his earlier arrest as a “blessing in disguise” that might push him toward a better path, this latest incident suggests things are still incredibly complicated behind the scenes.

According to jail records and a probable cause affidavit obtained by Starcasm, Robert Cosby Jr was arrested on November 9 in Salt Lake County and is currently being held in custody.
He is facing multiple charges, including two counts of violating a pre-trial protective order, criminal mischief with loss over $5,000, assault on a peace officer, failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, and interfering with a peace officer.
The protective order reportedly stems from earlier incidents in September, when Robert was arrested after allegedly trying to enter his wife Alexiana’s parents’ home through a dog door and assaulting someone outside. Those September incidents led to charges of criminal trespassing, assault, failure to stop at the command of law enforcement and multiple counts of violating a court order, according to People.
In this newest case, the affidavit says Alexiana’s younger brother called their parents terrified, saying Robert was outside the house making loud banging noises. Home security footage allegedly showed Robert kicking his mother-in-law’s car before officers arrived.
Police say he tried to flee on foot, resisted arrest by kicking and pulling away, and at one point allegedly bit an officer before being restrained and taken into custody.
Officers also documented significant property damage, including a broken front window, damaged siding and a rock thrown through a Mercedes belonging to Alexiana’s mother.
The affidavit states that Robert admitted on body-cam footage that he knew about the protective orders but chose to go to the house anyway, and describes him as a repeat offender with multiple prior violations involving the same family.
As of now, these remain allegations, and the case is ongoing.

For people who watch RHOSLC, the most heartbreaking part of this story is that Mary and Robert Jr have already let cameras in on his struggles.
On a December 2024 episode of the show, Mary revealed that her son had confessed to using drugs including heroin, Xanax, acid, Molly, cocaine and OxyContin, after she confronted him about worrying changes in his behaviour, reported People. She broke down in a confessional, saying she felt she had “let him down” and questioning where she had missed the signs.
Robert later went to a 30-day rehab program, and at the season five reunion, Mary shared that he had wanted to change and that telling their story on TV was partly about helping other families dealing with addiction.
Earlier this year, she also gave updates saying his sobriety journey remained a “hardcore road” and “tough to watch as a mom,” but that she still believed in his ability to turn things around.
After his September arrest, Mary spoke to People and described the ordeal as a “blessing in disguise,” explaining that he had been arrested after sneaking into his father-in-law’s home so he and Alexiana could spend time together.
She said she felt he needed that wake-up call to understand he was on the wrong path and shared that he was taking his recovery “day by day.”
