Huda and Louis break silence on Olandria being called a racial slur during their livestream
They finally addressed the controversy
There’s been a major heat wave in the social media realm thanks to the latest drama swirling around Huda Mustafa and Louis Russell.
During a live Instagram session, an audio clip has emerged alleging that Huda and Louis played aloud a racial slur aimed at fellow Love Island USA cast member Olandria Carthen.
The post has ignited backlash, intense commentary and plenty of disgust and outrage. Now, the couple has responded…

The allegation centres on an Instagram Live session where Huda and Louis were casually chatting.
Then, a caller-in’s message was seemingly played out loud, and it’s here that a racially offensive term aimed at Olandria comes out.
Although the clip was said to be deleted shortly afterwards, social-media users pounced, sharing screenshots and looping the moment online.
During the clip, Louis and Huda answer a phone call together on loudspeaker before the person on the phone says: “Hi Olandria’s a n*****.”
Huda and Louis then burst out laughing, before Louis composes himself and says: “Whoa, hey, hey…” and Huda says: “Turn that sh** off… yo, what the f***? What did they say? They said a bad word.”
“Yeah, they said a terrible word,” adds Louis.

In response to the uproar, both Huda and Louis issued statements via their Instagram Stories.
“Ya’ll, first of all, clickbait using a sensitive topic is actually insane. Me and Louis did not hear what was said in that no caller ID call on live, only the racial slur, which we hung up immediately. I don’t condone anything of the sort. Whoever called purposely continuously called while we were live. I really don’t condone racism, which is why it was immediately hung up. Once again we did not hear it very well, considering it sounded like a child, only the last slur. I just wanted to address this before it blows out of proportion.”
She went on to address why they were seen laughing, writing:
“…also laughter was because it was AWKWARD, like who the heck says something offensive like that on a call on his live and as you can hear me say “What did they say?” and “they said a bad word,” because that’s ALL I heard was the bad word. It was awkward and inappropriate, whoever said it is in the wrong.”
Louis, meanwhile, shared his own message that included the words:
“…don’t condone no racism but something happened on my live with a prank call and someone said something and a slurrr I laughed then hung up coz all I understood was the slurrr but now finding out there was a name in front of it but we didn’t hear that…”
“…as a black man who has experienced enough racism all my life, I don’t even wanna give the person that said the slur the satisfaction…”
Unsurprisingly, the reaction among people online has been pretty much disappointment all around. Some are giving them the benefit of the doubt. Others argue that acknowledgement alone isn’t enough.
