All the times David Beckham savagely shaded Victoria right in front of everyone
Her new documentary is just the tip of the iceberg
If there’s one thing we’ve learned after decades of watching the Beckhams, it’s that their relationship runs on equal parts love, luxury, and a healthy dose of sarcasm.
Victoria might have built an entire empire on being effortlessly chic and famously composed, but David? He’s the king of a perfectly timed tease.
With Victoria’s new Netflix documentary giving fans a fresh peek into her world, it’s also reminded everyone just how quick David is with a cheeky comment.
Let’s take a look at the moments where his dry humour stole the scene and proved that even in the world of couture and control, the banter is alive and well.
*That* ‘Be honest!’ moment
In one of the more viral clips from an earlier doc about David, Victoria declares that she and David come from “very working-class” families.
At that precise moment, David pops in and deadpans: “Be honest!” He then asks: “What car did your dad drive you to school in?” and when Victoria admits “a Rolls-Royce,” David simply says, “Thank you!” and leaves the room.
The moment became a meme. It’s a classic David move, subtle, timed perfectly, and letting the audience fill in the grin.

In her three-part Netflix doc, Victoria opens up about the public perception that she always looks “miserable” in photos.
She explains that when on the right side of David at events, she ends up smiling from her “wrong side,” which makes her look unwell. As she explains this, David quietly walks away from the camera, per Harper’s Bazaar.
Again: no harsh words, just timing, body-language and a wink. His exit mid-explanation speaks volumes. It’s less about what he says and more about how he shows he knows exactly what’s going on.
Kitchen roast moment
Fast-forward to the couple’s recent Instagram stories and David is preparing a Sunday roast for the family.
Victoria offers help, and he responds: “From who? Absolutely not. Stay away!” Then he quips: “Darling, we are not making a ham and cheese toastie.”
Here we get full-on banter mode. He’s teasing her self-confessed lack of cooking skills. The couple’s daughter, Harper also chimed in, joking that her mum can “burn water.”
Thankfully, the shade is soft-serve, wrapped in affectionate laughter, which, honestly, is the best kind of shade in a long-term marriage.
