All the reality stars who have almost died during their risky plastic surgery procedures
One of them was declared medically dead before her heart was restarted
Plastic surgery isn’t always the safest procedure to go through, and many reality stars and influencers have since opened up about how close they were to dying during their time under the knife.
Heidi Montag
Heidi Montag is truly one of the original influencers and she really paved the way, however The Hills star also “died for a minute” whilst undergoing plastic surgery.
Back in 2010, when Heidi was just 23 years old, she decided to undergo an insane 1o plastic surgery procedures in under 24 hours.
In just one day she had a mini brow lift, Botox in the forehead and frown area, a nose job revision, chin reduction and fat injections in the cheeks, nasolabial folds, and lips.
She also had neck liposuction, her ears pinned back, a boob job revision (increased to a DDD), liposuction on the waist, hips, and inner and outer thighs and a bum lift.
As such, it was a huge amount for her body to go through in such a short span of time, and she since revealed to Paper Magazine that her heart actually stopped and she was medically dead on the table for around one minute.
She explained that her husband, Spencer, was told that she “wasn’t going to make it”, recalling: “That’s kind of my personality: Everything at once.
“And I really just wanted to go under anesthesia once, instead of going under again and again. It felt safer for me.”
“Spencer thought he lost me. I died for a minute. With that much surgery, I had to have 24-hour nurse care and Spencer didn’t want to leave my side.
“My security guards called Spencer and told him, ‘Heidi’s heart stopped. She’s not going to make it.’”
Her heart was restarted again, but her recovery wasn’t easy either, as she explained: “I was at a recovery center and had Demerol to deal with the pain because it was so extreme.
“Cutting yourself up isn’t something I’d recommend, and Demerol isn’t anything to play around with. That’s how Michael Jackson died.”
Heidi Montag admitted that she in her rock bottom during that period but that her brush with death helped to put everything in perspective.
She said: “A lot of positive things came out of that. I had to look at myself in the mirror every day healing, and be like, ‘What did I do to myself? How did I get here? What is going on?’
“I basically had to hit that rock bottom moment in my life, to realize what was important to me.”
Sophie Kasaei
Geordie Shore star and influencer, Sophie Kasaei has revealed that she was mere moments away from death and even said her final goodbyes to her family after her BBL was botched.
She revealed that she had to be rushed into emergency surgery after a fatal “abscess” was found on one of her cheeks in a life or death procedure.
Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Sophie said: “I got a BBL and nearly died. I basically had an abscess growing on my left bum cheek.
“And it took over my whole body to the point where I was, I was (moments) away from them saying I was dead. It was horrendous. And I remember being in the hospital bed in South Shields Hospital and my family being there.
She continued, explaining that she had to say goodbye to her family before she was rushed into the emergency surgery: “And I just thought, ‘This is this is probably my goodbye.’
“And the doctor came in. They were like, ‘We’re going to have to rush into surgery right now.’ And I was like, ‘What is going on?’ They said, ‘If that abscess bursts inside your body, you were gonna die basically.’”
The Geordie Shore star continued, explaining: “So I was like, I was like, ‘all right.’ And then still in my head, I remember saying to the doctor, ‘Whatever you do, if there’s a scar, can you make it, like a really clean scar?’
“Cause I was still thinking about doing the magazines and what people think if I’ve got this massive scar. It was just such a. I was 24. I was ten years on now.”
Deja Skye
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Deja Skye revealed she “almost died” following complications after a liposuction and tummy tuck plastic surgery that she had in 2023 in Mexico.
She said at the time that she had to return to hospital multiple times as doctors discovered she had blood clots in her lungs and legs that meant she couldn’t walk.
She revealed: “It wasn’t a very good experience, if I’m being honest. My body was like, ‘No,’ ” she said. “It was crazy, like, I legit almost died. And that was the darkest time, just sitting in the hospital bed alone and being like, ‘Why did I do this to myself?'”
