Here’s how old the kids from Educating Yorkshire are now 12 years since we first met them
They're literally all icons
It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over a decade since Channel 4’s Educating Yorkshire introduced us to the unforgettable students and staff of Thornhill Community Academy.
The series, which first aired in 2013, captivated audiences with its raw portrayal of school life and the personal journeys of its pupils.
Now, 12 years later, the show is back on TV. And, although they’re no longer the focus of the series, we revisit the original students to see where life has taken them since the cameras stopped rolling.
Musharaf Asghar
Musharaf Asghar, the student who overcame a severe stammer with the help of his teacher Mr Burton, became one of the most memorable figures from the series.
His breakthrough moment, where he delivered a powerful speech in assembly, left a lasting impact on everyone.
Since then, Musharaf has pursued a career in journalism, becoming a motivational speaker and YouTuber.
He recently shared an emotional update on his 27th birthday, paying tribute to educators like Mr Burton who played a pivotal role in his life.
Bailey Hill
Bailey Hill, known for her distinctive drawn-on eyebrows, has transformed her public persona into a thriving career.
She was in Year 10 when we first saw her on the show, meaning she’d be around 26 or 27 years old now. She pursued a path in beauty and now runs her own hairdressing brand.
Active on Instagram, Bailey continues to engage with her followers and showcase her entrepreneurial journey.

Kamrrem Harris, who was 13 during the filming of Educating Yorkshire, later found himself in the news for a tragic reason.
He was imprisoned in 2018 for his involvement in a fatal pub attack, per The Sun. Kamrrem would now be around 25 years old.
This turn of events serves as a stark reminder of the challenges some young individuals face as they transition into adulthood.
Tom Foster’
Tom Foster, the class clown who brought humour and energy to the classroom, has taken a different path since his time on the show.
Now 27, working in manual labour, Tom remains true to his outgoing persona, embracing the work ethic and resilience that characterised his school days.
Tom spoke to Yorkshire Live in 2020 and gave everyone a life update: “Since school I haven’t done much really, just college for two years then work. I’ve mainly worked in a warehouse but I’ve done a bit of everything – engineering, painting – you name it.
“I’m 100% happy with how the show portrayed me. That’s exactly who I am – loud, outgoing and always trying to make people laugh.”
Mr Burton
Mr Geary is front and centre this evening on #EducatingYorkshire. He’s a brilliant young teacher at the start of his career. Teaching’s tiring, it’s emotional, it’s frustrating…but it’s fantastic. Over to you, Mr Geary! ⭐️

Though he’s not a student, people naturally want to catch up with Mr Burton, too. He was an English teacher during the original series, has risen through the ranks to become the headteacher of Thornhill Community Academy.
His journey reflects his dedication to education and his commitment to the students of Thornhill.
Under his leadership, the school continues to navigate the evolving challenges of the modern educational landscape.
