Fiancé of fused conjoined twin was tragically killed just months before their wedding
'It was devastating and my heart is broken'
Lori and George Schappell were the world’s oldest conjoined twins, and appeared in multiple reality TV shows about their lives before they passed away last year.
However, the pair were incredibly open about how they dealt with intimacy in their lives, with Lori revealing that she lost her virginity when she was 23 to her second boyfriend.

George Schappell was very supportive about his sisters relationships, saying that he’d love if she got married, explaining: “Well, he would be like a brother-in-law to me that is it. They can do whatever they do and I’ll act like I’m not even there. I would block out.”
However, whilst Lori found love and was engaged to be married, tragedy struck when her fiancé was killed by a drunk driver just four months before they were set to get married.
She said at the time: “It was devastating and my heart is broken. I am still in contact with his family and have only recently started dating again.
“George looked after me. If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know if I could have lived through the heartbreak. I would love to have myself a family – a husband and children of mine.”

Lori and George Schappell lived on their own in a two bedroom flat and would take turns sleeping in each other’s rooms. The pair also showered separately by using the shower curtain as a barrier between them.
Having privacy from each other was key, with Lori explaining how important that was for the pair, saying: “I’m here in body, but that is it.
“Just because we cannot get up and walk away from each other doesn’t mean we can’t have solitude from other people or from ourselves. People who are conjoined can have a very private life.”
