Love Is Blind’s Shayne Jansen opens up about ‘expensive’ drug habit that made him broke
'The show only paid pennies'
Love Is Blind’s Shayne Jansen has opened up about the “expensive” drug habit that made him broke. Speculation about his drug use resurfaced after his ex, Julie Theis, decided to talk about it, and rumours began to circulate about whether he had substance issues.
He joked about how he is now “on Ozempic for his nose” after a follower asked him how he became “so broke,” assuming that Love Is Blind season two, where he met his former ex-fiance it didn’t work out with, gives its cast members a “good chunk of money.”
Shayne revealed in a video: “Let’s start with the obvious. This little guy [pointing to nose], when it’s hungry, it’s not cheap. It’s a very, very, very expensive habit. I’m good now, but it’s expensive. And the shows don’t pay as much as you think they do.”

He went on to say how Love Is Blind “paid pennies,” while Perfect Match, which he also appeared on, pays a little more because the stars are “a little more well-known.” Shayne added, “Other than that, the taxes you’ve got to account for, you don’t get paid that much.”
The Netflix star, who works as a personal trainer, then pointed to his nose again and said, “This bad boy right here, when you do a lot of this, your motivation decreases, your work ethic decreases and it spirals from there. Eating talks with shame.”
Shayne also said: “We knew going in what we signed up for. The possibility of making money after was good. It was 8 weeks of filming a tv show, how many opportunities does someone get that chance? People need to start looking at the good stuff more.”
“It’s not like I was in the coal mines for 10 years. I was paid to be on a Netflix tv show, it was awesome. When you’re confident and secure in who you are, I have nothing to hide. I’m living a life I’ve always envisioned,” he continued.
