People still aren’t happy after Love Is Blind’s Raven made an apology video, and here’s why
She offended people with her 'hot take' on the diversity of Pilates
Raven spoke about pilates more than anything else on Love Is Blind, but it’s sadly become the reason she got cancelled on TikTok in recent days. She basically gave her “extremely hot take” on the diversity and accessibility of pilates, and was forced to apologise.
People don’t believe that she’s genuinely sorry, even after she said she had “failed” to fulfil her purpose of making pilates more accessible to women from all backgrounds. She deleted the former video where she spoke about how the sport of pilates is at a higher price point.
One person commented, “Girl you said, and I quote, ‘There is no accessibility,'” while another penned, “They eating you up in the comments for being tone deaf lol.” A follower even said: “If I wanted to be gaslighted this way I would’ve just dialled my ex.”
@pilatesbodyraven I want to say I’m sorry. And I know, intention doesn’t erase impact, but I made a mistake! My mission has always been to make Pilates free, as accessible as a i can, and welcoming for everyone. And I lost the plot in the message. Thank you for holding me accountable and giving me the chance to grow with you. And if ur an instructor of color, show us ur community! I want to support and I know a lot of others do too ❤️
She’d noticed people talking about how the sport has a “proximity to whiteness”. Raven said her business is about “providing an accessible space to a diverse demographic of women”. And her apology isn’t being taken lightly, either.
Raven maintains that her purpose is to get the sport out there “with as little barriers as possible” and said: “I missed the mark. This is definitely not a ‘woe is me’ video, I have always been open to feedback. I want to serve my community better.”
She added that “creating accessibility is about more than content” – with many assuming she used ChatGPT to form her apology video. Raven continued: “It’s also about words, actions, nuance, I’m an Aries, I love to shoot the s***. I just want better for this space.”
The Netflix star has disabled comments on her photos involving her promoting her pilates business, going on in her apology to say how this could “be the start of a positive and needle-moving conversation that hopefully can forge a new standard.”
