'She knows the cameras are on her'
The VMAs literally never fails to deliver some iconic and memorable celebrity moments, with Ariana Grande’s reaction to Ozzy Osbourne’s tribute taking centre stage this year.
During the tribute, Ariana was seen reacting to the moment in a very emotional manner, putting her hands up to her head and pointing to the screen.

However, some viewers have accused Ariana Grande’s reaction to Ozzy Osbourne’s VMAs tribute as being “performative” claiming she was “playing up to the cameras.”
And now an expert body language has weighed in on the matter, with Darren Stanton speaking on behalf of OLGB about what her expressions and movements show.
He revealed: “The clip where Ariana is looking at Aerosmith perform appears slightly inauthentic. It seems like she could be hamming up her emotions because she knows the cameras are on her.
“Genuine surprise comes from a micro expression, so generally, if people are genuinely surprised or experiencing a true emotion, it only lasts for a few seconds.”
He continued: “However, this is a prolonged series of gestures where her eyebrows are up to denote genuine surprise, her hands are on her head, these all appear to be accentuated body language gestures.
“True emotion often comes from being more subtle in your gestures. I’m not saying she wasn’t impressed with the tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, as I don’t think that is the case, but if you turn the sound down and watch the clip with no noise, I think a lot of her gestures, facial expressions and gestures with her hands and body are far too accentuated to be that of genuine, true emotion.”
