Love Island USA’s STI testing rules spark huge debate, and it’s thanks to this Islander
There's a major loophole in the testing
Love Island USA has certain protocol to follow when entering the villa, and there’s a load of talk about the show’s STI testing. People are now convinced that it’s all thanks to season seven islander, Nic, who happily left the show hand-in-hand with Olandria.
Basically, Nic appeared to have a cold sore on the show, which led to speculation there was herpes spreading around the villa. Belle-A, who was previously coupled up with Nic before she left, revealed she had bruised lips from the show’s kissing challenges!
People also thought Austin had a cold sore during the recent heart rate challenge, which hasn’t been cleared up, but for Nic’s sake, it healed way too fast to be a cold sore, for starters, and luckily, there’s no herpes spreading around the villa.
Podcaster Nick Viall is revealing having herpes makes no difference. “Just a little behind the scenes on reality TV. Testing positive for type 1 [herpes] in your blood does not disqualify you,” Nick claimed. “One doctor told me reality TV wouldn’t exist if that was the case.”
“Type 2 would get you disqualified,” he alleged. “You can’t get on if you test positive for type 2 herpes. But type 1 — like, 80 percent of the population has it in their blood system — they wouldn’t have a show. A doctor once told me that which is kind of hilarious.”

Nic didn’t actually have a cold sore, despite the speculation about it apparently being spread around the villa. He was playing football with Charlie when he accidentally got hit in the mouth, but we never saw their game because it happened during the day off filming.
In recent days, Ace has been doing interviews which seemingly suggest that contestants with cold sores entered the villa. But luckily, the show’s producers won’t let anyone in without STI testing for season eight, and are required to pass them to be eligible.
However, the specific tests performed may not include herpes simplex virus (HSV), as standard blood tests for it aren’t always reliable. But Ace has now told Speedy Gorman “there were several cold sores in the villa, adding that he saw a couple of them during filming.

When asked how he avoided the alleged outbreak, Ace replied, “I don’t give a damn if we on a show, I’m gonna ask you, ‘Yo, do you have anything, anything you want to let me know?’ or stuff like that. But you ain’t see no cockroaches around my lips.”
