Katherine Ryan responds to backlash after admitting to sleeping with boss to leave work early
'My frontal lobe was still developing'
Comedian and Real Housewives of London host, Katherine Ryan, has responded to backlash after she admitted she performed an NSFW act on her boss so she could leave work early.
She admitted to doing the act during a resurfaced appearance on Louis Theroux’s TV series, which took place in 2022.
She explained to Louis that she’d asked her boss: “If I suck you d**k, can I leave early? Something like that.”
Louis asked Katherine Ryan if she “really said that” to which the Real Housewives of London host responded: “Yeah. But I liked him. That’s key. He wasn’t just some guy.”
When asked what her boss said to her offer, she explained: “He said yes you can. Of course you can. So then I sucked his d**k and I left early.”
Louis asked Katherine whether she still has the same viewpoint of the situation now, or if she now sees it as being “inappropriate” with the comedian admitting it was a “tricky” situation as she had a “crush” on her boss.
Following the resurfaced interview, Katherine received serious backlash about her admission about the situation, and she’s since released a statement in response.
She clarified that she’s neither “proud not shameful” of what she did, writing: “Based on the reaction to this clip over the last two years, I think people mostly seem confused that I’m neither proud, nor am I shameful of the choices I made in my ‘youth’, as a young adult, when my frontal lobe was still developing.
“Culture moves so fast and those of us from what I call ‘the girl band generation’ navigated being objectified and participating in objectifying ourselves. It’s a bit different now.”
