Sad reason Hulk Hogan’s reality TV show ripped apart his relationship with entire family
He admitted that he wished he'd 'never' taken part in it
WWE star Hulk Hogan has sadly passed away, with the star being most well known for both his antics in the ring, alongside his reality TV show, Hulk Hogan Knows Best.
The series started in 2005 and followed in the success of The Osbournes, with Hulk Hogan believing that a reality TV show about their family could help to launch his daughter’s pop career.
He told Fox News at the time: “I was offered lots of [reality] shows when I was making my career comeback against The Rock, but I kept saying no. But years later, it was my daughter’s career and son’s racing career that we were thinking about.”
He continued: “We saw the Ashlee Simpson show and Jessica Simpson’s and Lindsay Lohan on the big screen, and we just didn’t [have] a vehicle to compete.
“But I considered it, because this time it was about the Hogan family rather than Hulk Hogan; they all wanted to do it and I tried to warn them about what they were in for.”
However, Hulk admitted that he deeply regretted doing the show and that constantly having a crew around him and his family was very straining.
He explained: “I would never do it again. Not with my family, not in the house. Oh, it was brutal. I’d wake up in the morning, the production crew would be outside, they’d be putting mics on me and the kids.
“It started at 7 o’clock in the morning, and they wouldn’t leave until 10 p.m. at night.”
He also revealed that the show was “lightly scripted”, explaining: “If we missed a point producers would tell us exactly what to say until they get what they wanted. It was lightly scripted but they’d actually tell us what to say.”
Ultimately though, Hulk Hogan strongly felt that doing the reality TV show with his family contributed to various relationships falling apart.
He admitted: “There’s an upside to it and there’s a huge downside to it, especially with family members who weren’t used to it.”
