Erm, has Drag Race star Nicole Brooks been cast as Britney Spears in an upcoming biopic?

All I’ve been seeing this morning are claims that RuPaul’s Drag Race star Nicole Paige Brooks has been officially cast as Britney Spears in an upcoming biopic about the iconic singer.
The rumour started following an alleged screenshot of a Vanity Fair article with the headline: “Drag Race star Nicole Paige Brooks officially cast as Britney Spears in the upcoming biopic, ‘The Woman In Me.'”
However, the Vanity Fair article has been confirmed as fake by Snopes, alongside the actual creator admitting that they had faked the image for entertainment purposes.
The fake article was created by @rupaulyd, an Instagram account dedicated to all things RuPaul’s Drag Race, with the caption: “I know Derrick Barry is FFUUUUMMMIINNNGGG.”
Just in case some extra context is needed here, Derrick Barry is a former Drag Race cast member who became known for their iconic Britney Spears impersonations.
And it didn’t take long for some of the other cast members to spot that something fishy was up with the post, with Brita Filter commenting that the whole thing was a “spoof.”
She added that the “fonts, spacing and formatting” of the alleged article didn’t match up to that of the actual Vanity Fair website, with the creator responding: “girl duhhhh. It ain’t my fault media literacy is dead.”
