Brian and Amaya reveal what they’re spending their $100k Love Island USA prize money on
The answer is not what I was expecting at all!
Yes, it’s all well and good that the winners of Love Island USA come out of the villa having found love, but more importantly $50k each in prize money.
Amaya Espinal and Brya Arenales were announced as the winners of Love Island USA season seven, but what exactly have the pair decided to spend their prize money on?
Speaking to Ariana Madix, Amaya revealed: “I do want to donate to a charity. I want to give back to a community – that’s one of my biggest passions. I want to make a positive impact on a group of people who are in need.”
Brian explained he wanted to “invest some of it” and also help raise awareness for mental health issues in children.
He added: “It is extremely important to me. I went through it when I was younger. I definitely want to help little kids face their emotions.”
In the past, previous Love Island USA winners have also chosen various different things to spend their prize money on.
Season six winners Kordell Beckham and Serena Page chose to invest their money, with Kordell telling Us Weekly: “I’m gonna be investing and putting it towards the business and my career.
“But as far as spending, I’m not gonna spend it on anything unless she wants a little something. [Serena] might get a little something.”
Serena also saved her share of the money, but explained she also needed to pay co-star JaNa Craig some of it after Serena lost a bet about them winning.
“I thought she was gonna win simply because I was just very unsure about how America was feeling about me and Kordell because we haven’t had the easiest journey,” Serena told Us Weekly.
“Past [Love Island] winners, they may not have gone through everything we’ve gone through. It has been a lot — a little dramatic, a little crazy.
“I’m like, who knows? They’re either gonna love it or hate it, and I was just like, ‘Maybe they hate that s**t. I don’t know. I know some people did, but it is fine because the majority don’t.”
