All the tea on the Drag Race paper dress drama as designer accuses Acid Betty of not paying
Acid Betty originally paid $2,000 for the dress
Drama is erupting in the RuPaul’s Drag Race universe, and this time, all eyes are on Acid Betty for allegedly not paying in full for a paper dress she wore on the All Stars show. A designer, called Shokra, spoke out to say that the queen only paid $2K for the dress.
The designer said that he had previously worked with Acid, so when she had come to him for the paper doll runaway look, he agreed to make it and even offered her a discount. Acid wasn’t happy with the original dress, he claimed, as it was too close to filming.
Shokra promised her that he would make the adjustments she wanted and hand it over at Los Angeles airport, which is usually not allowed, as it would cost extra to make the adjustments and for hand delivery. After filming, he claims he sent Acid multiple invoices.
Acid Betty had made the original payment of $2K, the designer claimed, but then allegedly didn’t pay fully for the dress – as there was $1K remaining – and she had blocked him. She later burned the dress on Instagram, and the designer took that as burning the “evidence.”
Apparently, Acid Betty wasn’t happy with the finished product and asked for more modifications. Acid also apparently requested more expensive materials, while Shokra said he was trying to save money by using paper from Michael’s instead of higher quality paper.
Shokra claimed on Race Chaser With Alaska & Willam that the price hike was for the additional materials costs of the three rolls needed for the flames – which cost $300 – on the paper dress, but did admit that they didn’t put the costs he required to be paid in writing.
Shokra said there were texts exchanged, but not a written agreement or formal quote agreed to between them both. When one person told Acid Betty to “pay the designer of that paper dress and do the right thing,” she replied, “I love trolls who know nothing about anything!”
She plans to speak out about the paper dress drama on this week’s The Petty Betty’s Podcast, and said: “Tune into this week’s podcast for receipts, text messages, emails, and timelines. Bring empty teacups! Oh, and work on your troll riddles. This one sucked!”
