Here’s what these controversial Love Island USA stars had to say after being axed from show
They were swiftly removed from the villa
When Love Island USA season seven kicked off, people were all literally buzzing with excitement. But, just as things began, they quickly ended for some contestants. As soon as folks clocked onto who was headed into the villa, they began diving into their socials and, erm, some controversies were unveiled. After the controversial content was uncovered, some of the Love Island USA stars were axed, so let’s take a look at what happened next…
Yulissa Escobar was axed from Love Island USA
Just three days into her Love Island USA experience, Yulissa Escobar was removed from the villa.
Her exit was pretty swift, and narrator Iain Stirling simply said: “Yulissa has left the villa.”
Yulissa broke down what she says actually happened on her TikTok page.
She said she: “…met one of the producers and they asked her to take her mic off…They just said that a video resurfaced on the internet, and it’s not looking too good.”
After she was removed, Yulissa shared an official statement via Instagram.
She apologised for using a racial slur but later addressed negativity she was getting online and clapped back at haters.
Austin Shepard was dumped
Although Austin Shepard wasn’t removed from the Love Island USA villa, people seemingly wanted him axed during the show.
He had a lot of people raising their eyebrows once they saw some of the content he’d been liking on TikTok.
Austin didn’t share any posts directly, but his likes on what was seemingly pro-MAGA content didn’t go down well with some viewers.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the person running his page addressed the online criticism and urged people to “do better.”
On day 24 Austin was dumped from the villa. He addressed a recent Instagram repost via his Stories on July 5.
He wrote: “I want to take a moment to address my recent repost that has caused offense to some of you… As you all know, I have a very dry sense of humor, and I genuinely didn’t think before sharing that content,” via UsWeekly.
Jaden Duggar also got dumped
While Austin was in the Love Island villa, Jaden Duggar came along as a bombshell, and the two left hand-in-hand on day 24.
They found a connection during season seven. And people were convinced they found more similarities between the two once they delved into Jaden’s social media connections, too.
Folks began assuming Jaden must be as controversial as Austin, as she chose him prior to entering the villa, and her best friend was seemingly liking similar posts to the ones Austin was.
Elan made it to day 26
Lasting slightly longer than Yulissa, Jaden, and Austin, Elan made it to day 26 in the Love Island USA villa.
The season seven star was another to have some controversial views, but nothing that actually got him axed from the show.
Elan was the fourth Islander this year to be slammed as controversial.
He arrived as a Casa Amor bombshell. People immediately accused him of being a Zionist because he follows a pro-Israel organisation on Instagram.
There was also a false rumour going round that Elan is a former Israeli Defense Forces soldier. There is no evidence to suggest that Elan ever served in the IDF.
Cierra Ortega was removed

In a shocking turn of events, Cierra Ortega was suddenly removed from the villa one week before the Love Island USA season seven final.
Her exit came after a since-deleted Instagram Story of hers was unearthed. The Islander used a racial slur in her post which was allegedly published in 2023.
Since Cierra’s removal from the villa, her parents took to her IG Stories to address the controversy.
She reportedly also defended her use of the slur in another social media post.
Leslie Golden was also axed from the villa
More Islanders have been booted from the show in the past, dashing their chances of bagging $100k just like that.
Back in season three, Leslie Golden was suddenly removed from Love Island USA for breaking a serious villa rule.
She explained on her Instagram: “I would love to say it. I think it’s hilarious, it’s a really dumb reason… Again, very on-brand for me. However, what I did was a little illegal.”
It was later revealed that she was kicked out of the show for bringing a dab pen into the villa, which is illegal in Hawaii where filming was taking place, alongside being against the rules for the show.
Noah Purvis was removed
Noah Purvis was very unexpectedly cut out of season two of Love Island USA after producers discovered he had previously appeared in adult films.
He told E! News he was “shocked” at the sudden axing: “They decided to pull me because they found out that I had been in pornography in the past.
“They said, ‘You’re going to be eliminated from Love Island… after only three days… done everything I was supposed to… I am being myself. What am I doing wrong?'”
He explained that their issues were with the fact he didn’t tell them about his past, clarifying: “They said, ‘You are doing great. You just didn’t tell us something you had previously done. You went by another alias.
“And as soon as they said that, it clicked in my brain… that I had buried this thing that I had done, which is pornography.”
At the time CBS and ITV America had issued a joint statement about his removal from Love Island USA, stating: “It has been brought to our attention that cast member Noah Purvis provided false information on his application to Love Island, which violates his contestant agreement.”
Tony Carabello was also axed from Love Island USA
Tony was also removed from season three of the show after he posted pictures of himself at the airport, and was replaced by Kamryn Mickens-Bennett.
He was meant to join as a Casa Amor contestant. As for why he was removed from Love Island USA, Tony explained: “The way they went about it was very sus but basically they said a video was pertaining to show which doesn’t make sense bc whatever video it was it.”
He clarified that the video had been posted five weeks prior, just three weeks before the premiere of the new season.
