On the TikTok user’s ‘Love Island Lowdown,’ Amaya’s uncle joined the chat.
He began by clearing something up: “A lot of people need to know this – Amaya wears her heart on her sleeve.
“That’s something that she gets from her mom, and her grandma…”
Judging by Amaya’s TikTok page, she’s super close with her family, and even took her mom on a surprise vacation for her birthday.

Amaya’s uncle clarifies more details about her while she’s in the Love Island USA villa.
“Amaya is from New York, born and raised in Brooklyn. She’s the first generation of Dominicans,” he explains.
He added of his fan-favourite niece: “Amaya is definitely bringing that New York energy.”
He addresses Ace specifically
Moving onto the current villa dynamics, which saw Amaya in tears not once, but twice, her uncle makes a point about how she behaves with Ace Greene.
He says: “She’s quick to call him out, and a lot of guys are so defensive… as a fellow man, I’m letting you know a lot of guys they get a little defensive, especially when girls are not here for it… they think that girls are just gonna eat it up.
“Nah,” he continues.
“She’s not that type of girl, she’s gonna call you out on your BS. That’s why Amaya’s like ‘Yo, what the f***… we’re not on Friend Island, we’re here to connect…”
