'We all mess up sometimes'
The Love Island USA season seven villa is thick with drama. As the final looms, some Islanders are coming through as fan-favourites while others have been getting negativity from day one. The contestants have had some of their controversial viewpoints unveiled this year, and Austin Shepard had people digging into his TikTok reposts pretty early on. Now, the Love Island USA star shares some strong words with online haters.

At some points, people have taken to their keyboards to say they want certain Islanders booted out of the villa.
When it comes to people throwing hate the Islanders’ way, Austin isn’t the only one.
Folks have suggested they want Huda Mustafa to “go home,” and more were keen to see Ace off the show, too.
Due to the wild level of trolling going on this year, the show’s host, Ariana Madix, actually addressed it and asked people to be nice.
The show itself also shared an official statement for the same reason, urging people to be kind.
They said: “We appreciate the fans, the passion for the series, and the amazing group of Islanders who are sharing their summer with us… Please just remember they’re real people — so let’s be kind and spread the love!”
Austin’s message to relentless trolls
As well as Ariana and Love Island USA speaking out against trolls, Love Island USA star Huda’s ex also shared how people need to be careful about what they’re posting online.
Fearing their daughter could be affected by people’s negative comments, Huda’s ex, Noah Sheline, was keen to urge people to stop online hate.
Now, the person running Austin’s account has a strong message for trolls, too.
Taking to Instagram after the show’s July 1 episode, they wrote:
“WE NEED TO DO BETTER…
“Our WORDS hurt—especially on social media! Sending HATEFUL messages or DEATH THREATS to islanders (or anyone) over reality TV is plain LOWKEY TRASH. It’s not just hurtful; it’s a serious moral and mental health dilemma!
“Reality shows are ALL ABOUT DRAMA. They pull us in and mess with our emotions, making it too easy to forget that these islanders are REAL PEOPLE with real lives, feelings, and struggles. They’re NOT just characters; they’re HUMAN BEINGS who deserve empathy and RESPECT!”
The heartfelt message continued: “Imagine if the person receiving those hate messages was your SON, DAUGHTER, SIBLING, or BEST FRIEND. Would you want them to feel that kind of PAIN just because of some words typed out from behind a screen? MENTAL HEALTH IS REAL, Y’ALL!
“Bullying and harassment can lead to serious mental health issues—sometimes even TRAGIC OUTCOMES like SUICIDE. No one wants to be the reason for someone’s suffering.”
They reminded people that the scenes seen on TV are “a heavily edited version of reality.”
The message continued: “We all mess up sometimes; we all have moments where we don’t represent ourselves well… We don’t know the full story or the context behind what we see. Life is COMPLEX, and the struggles aren’t always visible. LOVE ISLAND FANS, WE NEED TO DO BETTER! Let’s stand on BUSINESS and spread kindness instead of hate. Families should not have to turn off comments.”
