Sneaky Links’ Chloe Veitch opens up about ‘chaotic’ childhood that ‘taught her to survive’
She's been through so much
Chloe Veitch is pretty much reality TV royalty at this point. After landing herself in the cast of Too Hot to Handle five years ago, Chloe has catapulted to further fame, and people are totally here for her hosting a new saucy Netflix show. These days, she’s the Sneaky Links: Dating After Dark presenter. And, while Chloe oozes good vibes these days, the childhood that shaped her was far from easy.
Chloe Veitch opens up about ‘chaotic childhood’
Chloe is going from strength to strength in her TV career, but getting there wasn’t a breeze, per an interview she did on The Tea with Dr V podcast.
The Sneaky Links host explained why she feels she’s “so humble today.”
Speaking of her career, she said: “I didn’t know I wanted to get into the TV world, it kind of just happened.
“My mum was a carer when I was a baby. My dad had really bad alcoholism and drug addiction, he didn’t work. There was a lot of criminal activity going on inside and outside of my family, the people and whatever coming to the house.”
“I was brought up just having to survive, and winging it is what I know best,” Chloe continued.
She went on to admit: “I’ve not been taught certain steps of life that I should’ve been taught, like mortgages.
“I didn’t know what a mortgage was until two years ago, and I have to joke about that, otherwise I’ll cry about that.”
The Netflix show host added that her childhood taught her to have a “glass half full” mentality.
Dr V responded: “Because you grew up in chaos, these reality shows make you feel comfortable.”
Chloe’s brother tragically passed away
Not only did Chloe explain that she had a father who dealt with alcoholism and drug addiction, but she also had to endure the loss of her brother, David.
She told Dr V: “He died of a heroin overdose.”
The Sneaky Links host shared how her family started a charity called Stand, which helps people who suffer from addiction issues.
She said: “Every time I see someone suffering who’s an addict, I just want to cuddle them and say it’s gonna be OK.”
At the time of recording her podcast episode, Chloe said her dad had been “clean for two years.”
