Brink of homelessness to filmmaker: Where Nick Thompson from Love Is Blind stands now
The film is about people 'manipulated into falling in love'
Um, wait, Nick Thompson from Love Is Blind is making a film?! He’s gone from marrying a complete stranger, known as Danielle Ruhl, on the Netflix show, to sadly going homeless as a result of losing a job, to now being an executive producer on a film.
Nick became homeless after Love Is Blind
Nick almost missed a mortgage payment on his home and was very close to becoming homeless, but exclusively told Reality Shrine that he’s been working at the same stable job for a year and a half, and is now “financially stable”.
“I was at peace and financially stable. I got my first pay cheque but I almost missed my mortgage payment, I had savings but I had to cash out my 401K, it was really brutal, but I didn’t lose my home,” Nick added, revealing that he’s now “rebuilding his life”.
He’s now much closer to the life he had before reality TV, in which he feels he was “sold a dream” after being reached out to on LinkedIn to apply for Love Is Blind. Nick met Danielle, who he has since divorced from, in the pods, and they remain friends today.
He’s now executively producing a film?!
Nick is currently executively producing a film called HIM, which is based on five finalists in a dating reality TV show who are manipulated into falling in love by producers and suitors. Having been on a reality series himself, he’s decided to help out with making it.
The film begins streaming on May 30, with a portion of the proceeds going to The UCAN Foundation, a charity started up by Nick after his Netflix fame to provide mental health and legal support to past, current, and future reality TV stars.
