My 600-lb star Latonya Pottain has passed away, after asking people to ‘pray for her’
She died from congestive heart failure
My 600-lb Life star Latonya Pottain has passed away aged 40 following congestive heart failure.
She died on Saturday May 17th at a hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, according to the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office. TMZ broke the news that her preliminary autopsy found that she died from congestive heart failure, with Us Weekly confirming her death.
A final autopsy report has yet to be completed.
Latonya Pottain’s brother told TMZ that the My 600-lb Life star was visited by her family before her death. He claimed she was struggling to breathe and looked unwell.
The family later received a call from a nurse who told them that Latonya had called an ambulance for herself and was taken to hospital for cardiac arrest where she sadly passed.
Latonya appeared on My 600-lb Life in 2023, during the 11th season of the show, weighing around 632lbs and had become bedbound.
She was diagnosed with a dangerous heart issue during the show and was eventually told that she could no longer be helped after she was unable to lose the weight she was required to.
A year ago she asked people to “pray for her”, writing on Facebook: “Y’all pray for me my heart not working right and there is nothing more the doctors can do here in Louisiana please keep me lifted.”
