Secret Lives of Mormon Wives producer addresses criticism from LDS community about the show
He encouraged the church leadership to appear on the series
The new season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives released this week, and as was the case with the previous season the show has come under criticism from the LDS community.
Executive producer Jeff Jenkins addressed the backlash from some members of the community, and explained he’d love for them to appear on the show during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Jeff explained that he’s read some articles that “the Mormon community has broadly said, ‘Well, these ladies don’t represent what we’re really about,’ which is a little bit disappointing to me because they all do value their faith.
“They’re kind of all on a spectrum of commitment to that faith, but they’re part of the LDS community.”
He added: “I would love for a member of the church — who works within the church, whether that’s a bishop or whoever’s in charge — to come shoot with us and share their perspective on all of this, whatever that perspective is.
“I would love that, I encourage it. It’s been very challenging to find that voice for that side.”

After the trailer for the first season of The Secret Wives of Mormon Lives released, the Church of Jesus Christ published a statement regarding how Mormonism is portrayed in the media.
The church said: “Some portrayals (of the Church) are fair and accurate, but others resort to stereotypes or gross misrepresentations that are in poor taste and have real-life consequences for people of faith.
““We understand the fascination some in the media have with the Church, but regret that portrayals often rely on sensationalism and inaccuracies that do not fairly and fully reflect the lives of our Church members or the sacred beliefs that they hold dear.”
