Temptation Island producer reveals how the control room reacted to *that* couple’s actions
I wasn't the only one screaming then
Temptation Island wasn’t just a whirlwind for us watching. The control room were “shouting at the screen” when one particular couple ended up leaving the island together! So basically, producers were equally as shocked as us, and have now spilled the real-time reaction from the crew filming the entire thing.
Temptation Island producer reveals how they reacted to couple
Executive producer David Goldberg and showrunner David Friedman have revealed how the control room reacted to the show’s most controversial couple: Brion and Shante. Spoiler alert, but they end up leaving the island as a couple, and it wasn’t just us watching that couldn’t get our heads around how Shante ever forgave Brion for that threesome scene.
“When Brion and Shanté got back together, sure, everyone in the truck in the control room was shouting at the screen,” Friedman told Variety. But he added, “It’s not our decision.” We all saw Brion say there would be “nothing physical” with any other ladies, but it felt like literal minutes until he broke that very clear rule!
They ‘don’t steer anyone in any direction’
Unlike dating shows like Love Is Blind and The Bachelor, producers don’t have a particular direction they try to steer the couples into. All it is is helping them figure out what’s best for them, so it’s purely up to them to make the final decision on whether to leave the island together as a couple, or newly-single.
“In the end, only they decide what’s right—it doesn’t matter what I think, doesn’t matter what the producers around them think,” said showrunner Friedman. Brion ended up promising to continue to work on himself to be the man she deserved, and has since spoken out on all the hate he’s received as a result of his actions.
