The Real Housewives of New York’s Erin Lichy is mourning the loss of her “best friend” and father, Eliahu Yitzhari, this October. The reality star is seen to have a lot on her plate during the all-new episodes. Her mom, Dorothy, is enduring chemotherapy, and Erin is “fighting” the disease by her side.
Not only is Erin dealing with her mom’s cancer battle, but the Real Housewives of New York star explains during episode 2 how she’s also going through it in her marriage. She and Abe Lichy tied the knot 12 years ago. Despite Erin confirming the two are still going strong via Instagram, she’s seen shedding tears during RHONY over their relationship.
Erin’s ‘heartbreak she never knew existed’
This October, Erin takes to Instagram to share that she’s mourning the loss of her father.
In the tribute post, the reality TV star pens a heartfelt message to her dad who she describes as her “best friend.”
She writes: “My heart and soul. My best friend, my courage, my strength, my superpower. How grateful I feel to have had you as a parent to guide me, to uplift me, to teach me how to live life to the absolute fullest. Your generosity is unmatched and I have learned not only how many people you helped silently but what a lasting impression your kindness left.
“Knowing I wonโt see you laugh again or sing to me on the opposite end of the phone is a heartbreak I did not know existed, but somehow I know you are still there. You have given me the greatest gift and I cannot feel anything but sincerely grateful to you for being my father.”
Erin speaks of her father’s “last days” in her post, writing: “…you said to me โืดืืื ืืืื, ืื ืฉืืื ืืืื – Without Love, Nothing is Worth Living For. I cried so hard for the natural beauty of that sentence that you so freely let fall from your lips.”
She continues: “Your soul is pure. A genuine, happy, loving energy and you gave us 5 a piece of that. You left this world so beautifully, with your children by your side until the very end, and you made it very clear that your dying wish was that us 5, your legacy, stick together. We will honor you every single day.”
Eliahu Yitzhari passed away on October 1, just months after Erin was explaining how her mother is battling cancer on RHONY.
RHONY star fights cancer with her mom
During RHONY season 15 episode 2, Erin opens up to Ubah Hassan about her marriage.
The reality star explains how they’re “doing good,” but breaks down in tears speaking about Abe.
Erin tells Ubah she “needed him to be there for me this time… with everything with my mom.”
She says she and her mom “have a really strong bond” and she’s her mother’s only child.
Back in August, Erin shared an IG post stating how tough her mom’s cancer battle was.
She penned how the journey was not only physical but “so psychological,” adding how “staying positive” was key: “The battle is not over but weโre at the finish line. Feeling grateful is an understatement.”
