Making It In Marbella barely touches the sides of Selling Sunset drama – opinion

Making It In Marbella follows the likes of wealthy real estate agents in, well, Marbella. Selling Sunset was always the OG property show on Netflix, and Making It In Marbella have to do more to catch up.
Eric Ebbing launched Making It In Marbella’s Homerun Brokers in 2020. While that’s an incredible achievement, the Oppenheim Group knew what they were doing when they hired Christine Quinn.
Making It In Marbella has some drama
Making It In Marbella has tried its best to show the goings-on of a busy, fast-paced real estate agency. Firstly, how do they have time to argue, and secondly, where are the sassy comments between girls?!
Ok, so two cast members – Miah van de Bilt and Robert Bazo – clash over one of them being disrespectful, after he destroyed a wall. Another star calls him a “liar” and says she “doesn’t trust him”.
Sarah Sorrell, on the other hand, was accused of “changing the vibe since she joined,” which CEO Eric Ebbing appeared to agree on. She said her boss was “letting someone expose and mob her”.
It’s got nothing on Selling Sunset
While we appreciate that employees at Homerun Brokers argue, they’ve got no drama like Selling Sunset. Christine Quinn and Chrishell Stause‘s feud was the start of it all, until Emma Hernan turned up.
Quinn accused Emma of having history with Christine’s ex, which Hernan denied. In the more recent season, Nicole Young clashed with Chrishell over a three-year-old listing Stause “took credit for”.
Chrishell even accused Nicole of being “cracked out” on drugs while they were on a cast trip. The list is endless… including that $75 million unsold property that Davina took on once.
Less properties, more feuds pls
Perhaps it takes a few seasons for drama to truly kick in, as in Selling Sunset. Chrishell accused Quinn of speaking to press about her, which led to yet another argument during filming.
Of course, property is meant to be the main aim, but isn’t reality TV kind of about the relationships that form and crash? We want to see arguments over the listings and stealing each other’s boyfriends.
“The vibe of Homerun Brokers is to pretend everything is fine. Meanwhile, the ship is sinking,” said a Making It In Marbella estate agent, but literally zero properties were shown in the trailer.
Please bring more feuds over the post-work parties, taking each other’s listings, and maybe even by hiring newbies that have history with the current agents’ exes.
