Outlast is out with a second season! Production teams only show half the footage, according to season 1 star Jill Ashlock, while medical teams are always nearby in case of emergencies.
Netflix has brought back Outlast, where 16 survivalists brave the Alaskan wilderness on little food and water. Season 1 star Jordan was medically treated for starvation, while season 2’s Tonia was sent home.
Jill addresses scripted rumors
Jill Ashlock, from season 1, has recently addressed rumors Outlast is scripted. She said it “shouldn’t be a question,” telling fans, “The fact that people even ask this question blows my mind!!!”
She added, “Do you all REALLY think that it is “real”!? When a camera is in your face and you have been hired to perform for a TV audience to ENTERTAIN the public eye… there is “acting”!”
“That’s why the same ones get hired over and over again. That’s why you know their names!!! They’re great at acting!!!! Reality TV is not Reality,” the former contestant added.
Outlast only shows ‘half of footage’
Jill spilled all the tea on Outlast, claiming only “half of the footage” was shown from season 1. She said the edit may have obscured the “true story”, such as when she chose to betray Amber Asay.
She claims the cast are “hired” while maintaining that she “cannot disclose certain things about the show”. Jill also said, “The truth of our adventures were not given to the world.”
Medical nearby for emergencies
From Jordan needing treatment for starvation in season 1, to Tonia requiring assistance for hypothermia, there is always a medical team on hand when emergencies take place on Outlast.
Contestants are allowed to leave the game if they are deemed unfit to continue. Angie, in season 1, had a bowel blockage, and a producer was shown assisting Angie while walking to a medical boat.
Another instance when the Outlast production team appeared was when Dawn Nelson and Joel Hungate had their sleeping bags robbed by Jill, Amber, and Justin Court on the Alpha team.
