Sebastian Croft was a Traitors superfan before joining the cast, and wanted to be a Traitor

Sebastian Croft went into Celebrity Traitors with one major advantage: He was a massive fan of the show long before he became one of its contestants. The actor, best known for his roles in Heartstopper and Game of Thrones, joined this year’s celebrity lineup.

While Croft may be one of the younger and less recognisable faces in the castle, he’s clearly been doing his Traitors homework.

When Claudia Winkleman asked him whether he wanted to be a Traitor or Faithful, Sebastian didn’t exactly hide where his loyalties would lie. In fact, he chose Traitor. Unfortunately for him, Claudia had other plans.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, he admitted that looking back on his time on Celebrity Traitors feels slightly surreal.

“Honestly, when people ask me, I’m like, ‘It’s so weird. It’s like I’ve I hit my head. I can’t remember anything!’ No, I’m just very excited. I feel the same about music as I do about Traitors. It’s been this thing on the horizon for so long, and it’s so weird that both are starting to be put out into the world [at the same time].”

And keeping quiet about what actually happened inside the castle apparently wasn’t too much of a struggle for Sebastian. If anyone was equipped to deal with the UK’s collective demand for spoilers, it’s probably someone who spent his childhood on Game of Thrones.

This year is slightly different, so here is the episode schedule for Celebrity Traitors this week

I’ve just realised that three cast members from Celebrity Traitors were in Game of Thrones

The ridiculous fortunes of The Celebrity Traitors: Their net worths, from £500K to £50 million

“I remember going to school when I found out I’d been cast in Game of Thrones, and there was probably a six-month period where I not only couldn’t tell anyone, but there was a really big character and people weren’t sure if he was alive or dead. I knew [the answer] because I’d been in a trailer next to that person! I had to keep that a secret, and I would have taken that to the grave. So no, it’s not difficult!”

It turns out his love of Traitors goes way back, too. Asked whether he’d always imagined himself as a Traitor or Faithful, Sebastian said he was simply thrilled to get the chance to play at all.

“I just love playing games, honestly. I grew up playing versions of the game, like Mafia and stuff like that. I couldn’t believe I was even asked, because obviously I love the show, and it’s such a crazy lineup. I’m just very excited and happy to be there.”

Still, at least he can now add Celebrity Traitors to a very impressive list of things he’s managed to keep secret.
