Are the Autumn blues getting to you? Here’s how you can spend this October in Edinburgh
The leaves are turning brown and there’s a chill in the air: cosy season is creeping upon us. Here’s what’s on in Edinburgh this month.
If you missed out on a ticket to see Vikkstar at Why Not – fear not! There are plenty other ways to celebrate this beautiful Autumn month.
We’ve compiled a list of free and paid events for you to live out your Rory Gilmore dreams.
Free Events:
Flea Market at the Drill Hall
From 10am-3pm on October 31st, the Drill Hall in Leith returns for its monthly flea market.
There will be fifty stalls of second-hand clothes, books, jewellery, antiques, and more.
Described as a “middle ground between the beloved car boot sale and more exclusive antiques markets”, Drill Hall Flea Market has a lot to offer.
Edinburgh Careers Fair
If you shudder at the question “what do you want to do after uni?”, this event could be for you.
I know the J-word is scary, but Assembly Rooms is hosting the UK Careers Fair in Edinburgh from 10am – 2pm on October, 8th.
There will be a variety of employers offering advice, an opportunity to network, and potential roles available either part-time or full-time.
These roles can include apprenticeships, grad j*bs, management, and franchise opportunities.
Assembly Rooms advises to bring several copies of your CV and to dress “smartly but comfortably”.

Paid events:
Palm Houses at the Royal Botanic Garden
After six years of restoration, the two Palm Houses at the botanic gardens have reopened to the public.
The Victorian glasshouses underwent much-needed maintenance after becoming leaky and rusty, requiring the plants, many of which are endangered, to be de-potted and relocated to temporary homes.
Tickets are only £1 with a Young Scot card and £4.95 for an adult.
