We want you! The Tab Edinburgh is looking for new writers.

Ever had a ridiculous night out that deserves to be documented? Spotted something bizarre on campus? Got an opinion about Edinburgh student life that you desperately need to share?

We want your stories.

We are also looking for students interested in video journalism, whether that means filming events, interviewing people or making videos about what is happening around Edinburgh.

You do not need to study journalism. You do not need a portfolio. Most importantly, you do not need to know exactly what you are doing yet.

If you can spot a good story, we can help you turn it into an article. If video is more your thing, we can help you get involved with filming and reporting too.

And it does not matter which university you go to. We are open to students from universities across Edinburgh.

So, what could you write about?

Pretty much anything that students care about.

That could mean university news, student politics, nightlife, culture, events or the latest drama on campus. You could also write about something completely unexpected.

For video journalists, it could mean covering events, getting student reactions or putting together videos about whatever is happening around the city.

The best stories often start with a simple question, a strange sight or something that makes you think, “Surely someone else needs to know about this.”

And if you have an idea, you can pitch it.

The Tab Edinburgh is kicking off the new academic year with an open meeting at West Nic Records.

It is happening at 6pm on Tuesday 29 September.

Come along, meet the team and find out what writing, reporting and video journalism for The Tab is actually like. You can bring story ideas, ask questions or just come and see what it is all about.
