Mum of Christa Pike’s victim wants killer to face same fate as her daughter in raw message

Christa Pike’s failed execution has sparked a raw and unfiltered message from the mother of her victim, May Martinez.

In 1995, alongside her boyfriend and their friend, Christa Pike graphically killed 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer. She became the youngest person on death row at the age of 18 and has been waiting for her execution ever since.

That execution was supposed to take place earlier this week, but Christa was still alive after two doses of lethal injection. People in the room heard her “snoring” as the curtain closed.

At the time, May Martinez argued that those involved in the execution had “f**ked up”, but now she’s gone one step further.

The mum of Christa Pike’s 1995 victim has spoken out again

May and her husband, Raul Martinez Jr., were in attendance at Christa Pike’s botched execution, with Colleen’s stepfather admitting: “She just lay there. She moved her toes a lot.”

“We waited about three minutes and they said, ‘We’re going to give her another dose,’” Raul explained. “They opened another bag and she was still picking up her head and moving around.”

At this point, the witnesses were asked to leave the room, but May found herself thinking about taking justice into her own hands.

She told People: “If I could have gotten in that room, I would have taken the box cutter and cut her up like she did Colleen.”

Reflecting on the past 30 years without her daughter, she added: “Well, you miss a lot. You miss the holidays, you miss the birthdays, you miss Mother’s Days and stuff like that.”

It’s unclear what’s going to happen next, but we’re yet to get a substantial update on Christa Pike’s condition after the botched execution. Typically, the State of Tennessee uses the electric chair as the secondary method of execution, People reported.

On what’s on her mind now, a day later, Colleen Slemmer’s mum said: “I want to go kill Christa. How’s that?”

More information is expected.
