Nelly’s justifications for why she kept sticking around on MAFS UK despite Steven’s slip-ups

Pretty much once a week on MAFS UK 2025, Steven behaves in a way that upsets Nelly, she has an epiphany and declares to the cameras that she deserves better… then she chooses to stay with him at the commitment ceremony. Nelly has finally explained how she ended up staying on MAFS UK 2025 despite her grievances with Steven.

Nelly seemed pretty unimpressed last week at how Steven appeared to defend Julia-Ruth during a dinner party row more than he did her. At the commitment ceremony, she still chose to stay in the experiment. Steven offended her further by writing “stay (for now)”. In a lengthy Instagram statement, Nelly said she “still felt hurt” after the drama at the dinner party, and explained how she came to feel very “confused” at the commitment ceremony.

She wrote: “He assured me I’d read it wrong, that he was standing up for Divarni rather than Julia Ruth, and asked me to trust him. But I was torn. I needed more from the relationship to feel secure, while Steven said he didn’t need anything other than for me to ‘just be myself’.

But when that consistency disappeared and things became hot and cold, it naturally created confusion. Trust takes time to build, and once it’s cracked, it takes care, affirmation, and stability to repair.

“That’s all I wanted – a safe space to grow again. We both chose to stay for another week, knowing it would be a pivotal one.”

I’m desperate to know what she means by the upcoming week being “pivotal”. I sense drama is afoot.

Steven hasn’t posted a statement about this commitment ceremony, although he did take to Instagram to inform everyone that the reason he never made breakfast in bed for Nelly was that she didn’t eat much breakfast. Erm, well maybe she would if she didn’t need to get out of bed for it?

He previously said sorry for how he treated Nelly during the spa day on MAFS.  Steven wrote on Instagram: “Blinded by my own ego and not taking accountability sooner, I broke someone who never deserved to be broken and that was hard to re-watch.” He did also issue an apology after the MAFS episode in which he called Nelly a “f***ing idiot”.
