Er, the MAFS UK bride Julia-Ruth has already been on TV many, many times
Wait, she was an actor in a soap opera?
In an unexpected twist on MAFS UK, two matched-up contestants actually liked each other for once *gasp*. Julia-Ruth’s wedding to Divarni was super cute. I’m already obsessed. It turns out that Julia-Ruth Smith has actually been on TV many, many times before.
She’s not just a pro dancer – she’s appeared on another reality dating show, and acted in a TV drama?! Here’s a look at all Julia-Ruth’s attempts at TV fame before she agreed to go on MAFS UK 2025.

She appeared in all ten episodes of Are You the One? A Global Matchmaking Competition in 2023. The show was filmed in Spain, and followed a group of singles from different countries. Julia-Ruth had a pretty good run on the show – she soon settled with an Australian guy called Brendan Mosca. They were the first couple on the show to be proclaimed a “perfect match”. However, they split up after the show. Julia-Ruth then moved to London.
She acted in a New Zealand soap opera

For the uninitiated, Shortland Street is a long-running medical soap opera in New Zealand. Julia-Ruth appeared in three episodes of it back in 2020. Her character Hannah Drake was a girlfriend of a paramedic called Theo. She got caught up in Theo’s relationship drama with one of the leading characters, Eddie.
All these messy romances sound like excellent preparation for MAFS UK.

You’ve probably seen her dancing on TV before
Julia-Ruth is a professional dancer, and she’s collabed with plenty of famous musicians. She’s performed with 50Cent at the O2, and with Gims. She’s also been in the music videos for the Bebe Rexha song I’m The Drama, and for Too Many Woman by Jordan Adetunji and Kwn.
