Here’s who gossiper-in-chief Selena Gomez whispered to Benny Blanco about at the Emmys

Selena Gomez seemingly can’t do an awards ceremony without getting caught whispering something on camera. Literally every time, she has the worst luck. Although at least this time at the Emmys 2025, Selena Gomez was caught whispering something nice as she gossiped with her fiancé Benny Blanco. And we’ve worked out exactly what she said. Tbh, it was very iconic. Selena Gomez was attending the Emmys for 2025 with the cast of her acclaimed TV show Only Murders in the Building – now in its fifth season. But whilst the cast all were sat there, she leaned over to Benny Blanco, her musician fella, and whispered one wholesome thing everyone was quick to clock. It’s adorable.

Only Murders in the Building was nominated for best comedy series and Martin Short was nominated individually for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Neither of the categories got the Emmy for the show, with a lot of people outraged after some amazing work Martin Short did on the series – especially with his co-star Meryl Streep. Meryl joining Only Murders was a huge booking – and she has had a recurring role since season three playing Martin Short’s character Oliver’s love interest.

As the whole cast were sat in a row – namely Martin Short, Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and then Benny Blanco next to her – Selena Gomez was caught gossiping to Benny at the Emmys.

What she actually said, though, was “Martin’s texting Meryl” and then pulls a really cute wholesome face. Obviously, Martin had got really close with the most famous actress of her generation.

The 2025 Emmys is not the first time Selena Gomez has been caught in 4K whispering – after causing an absolute saga when she was seen gossiping to her close friend Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes in 2024. At the time, everyone was theorising she was gossiping about Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner – which Gomez then refuted.
