This influencer got ghosted on a first date and TikTok is arguing over if it was her fault

What’s too much for a first date?

An American TikTok influencer has gone viral after sharing her first date gone wrong. Emma Jimenez was ghosted right before a planned meet-up with a boy she had been texting, and people are divided over whether it was her own fault.

In a tearful video, she showed the massive effort she made for the date. Emma had bought tacos from her favourite restaurant and baked homemade Mexican corn muffins to reflect her Latina heritage. But now she’s said the ghosting has convinced her to stop being a “lover girl” and enter her “villain era”.

“All you had to do is answer the phone,” Emma said. “I had everything planned out.”

The video now has almost 25 million views and over 3.5 million likes. Emma told her followers that the boy who ghosted her never reached out.

At first, people were supportive of the influencer. Everyone was shocked at the amount of effort she’d put into a first date, and praised her for being so kind.

“Making her cry before even meeting her is wild,” said one comment with over 400k likes.

“He flaked on THIS?” said another.

But as the conversation moved on, some people think the 21 year-old creator was doing way too much for a first date.

“Why are y’all doing all this for a man?” wrote one TikTok user. “Like it’s so embarrassing on your end honestly, and y’all wonder why they treat y’all like this. Stop applying so much effort, there’s women who don’t do anything and get the WORLD.”

Things got even more divided when the video was shared to X.

“She dodged a bullet,”one X user said.

“I think he did ngl,” responded another, gaining 50k likes.

Some people think putting that much effort and crying over a first date is a major red flag.

“Yeah this is too much I can’t lie,” said another.

Those defending her say her love language is clearly acts of service, and “lover girls” always get played.

In response to her viral TikTok, creator EchosPov made a video recreating her solo date by eating tacos in his car. He publicly made his move, and asked her on a date in a TikTok that now has over four million views.

But don’t get your hopes up, Emma has already responded. She explained that she doesn’t feel comfortable going on a date with someone on the internet just because both their videos went viral.
