Viral ‘plane Karen’ divides people over flight etiquette after skipping line to disembark

A video has gone viral showing a recent altercation that broke out on a flight after a woman skipped the line to get off the plane first, and it’s got people really divided.

In the TikTok clip, filmed and posted by another passenger, a woman in a grey jumper can be seen standing in the aisle telling a man sitting down to “shut your mouth”.

“I wanna wait for the people in front of me to get up, that’s how we do it,” he says, and the woman replies: “My god you’re all whining for no reason.”

“Where are you going though? Let me the people another guy asks, but she isn’t having any of it.

As soon as the plane landed, the woman got out of her seat and walked through to the front so she could get off first, rather than exiting row by row from the front.

“Just deal with it people,” she says. “Why don’t you all just shut up. It’s not affecting any of you. You guys are so funny.”

The man then calls her a Karen and starts chanting the word “Karen” over and over again while people around them laugh.

“You’re the Karens about it because you’re the ones who are making noise. Nobody is bothering you,” she says.

She then insults the man’s accent, which prompts other passengers around them to start getting involved. One person called her a “low IQ human being”.

People are really divided in the comments, with some people calling her out and others claiming the woman didn’t actually do anything that bad.

“It’s common knowledge airplane etiquette. It’s a ridiculously small space, you have to get your bags from overhead, and there’s 4 to 9 seats across each aisle. If everyone tries to get up at the same time, it creates chaos, and makes it all actually take longer. The people closest to the exit go first, then each row after that,” one person said.

“Number one pet peeve is people from the back flooding the aisle the second the plane lands,” another agreed.

However, someone else argued: “People that get offended by this are annoying. I really don’t care if people from the back leave first. Also I’ve done this when I have connecting flights and tight schedules. How are people so sure they don’t have a connecting flight?”

“Everyone attacking her over the biggest non issue ever like seriously,” said another.
