Watch the full YouTube video filmed on the OceanGate Titan sub days before its implosion

‘It could have been me inside that submarine today’

If you’ve seen Netflix’s new documentary, Titan: The OceanGate Disaster, you’ll know that days before the sub’s implosion, a YouTuber was invited on board.

This YouTuber, Jake Koehler, filmed his experience on the vessel after being invited to join OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush on a dive.

Jake, who features in the Netflix documentary, has a YouTube channel called DALLMYD, and goes professionally by the name Scuba Jake.

In his videos, he often shares his underwater findings, so it is no surprise he was invited on an OceanGate dive.

The documentary covers part of Jake’s video, showing him boarding the Titan’s mothership, Polar Prince, spending time at sea, learning about OceanGate, then finally boarding the sub.

However, before Jake could take part in the dive, bad weather came in, cancelling the expedition.

In the video, which has been viewed 10 million times, Jake talks about how he could’ve been in the sub when it imploded, saying: “If my dive wasn’t canceled, it could have been me inside that submarine today.”

He also speaks openly in the Netflix documentary, and poignantly remembers how he rested his feet in the sub’s dome: “I was just thinking, ‘Damn, what if that had been me?'”

The dome was the largest part of the Titan later found by the US Coast Guard.

Jake further goes into detail about the inside of the sub, saying his feet were cold from all the condensation. “You could see it beading,” he added.

He also explained how he’d always been fascinated by the Titanic, and had reached out to OceanGate himself.

Since the implosion, Jake still continues to post scuba content, focusing on treasure hunting, with his some of videos amassing over 30 million views.
