For a while, there’s been this wild theory that Melania Trump is actually a body double. Look, you might think this is unheard of an utterly ridiculous, but remember the Queen Camilla mask theory? That was deep. And it’s along the same lines.

The theory about Melania has been around for years. And now, every time she appears alongside her husband Donald Trump, people start talking about it and dissecting her every move.

So, here’s where the theory began, and why people are talking about it once again.

What is the Melania Trump body double theory?

In short, the theory is that Melania has been replaced with a body double or a stand in, for her First Lady duties. The theory dates back to 2017, and has been named the “Fake Melania” and “Melania Trump body double” theory.

The theory was actually started by a journalist from The Guardian. They tweeted: “Absolutely convinced Melania is being played by a Melania impersonator these days. Theory: She left him weeks ago.”

The tweet then blew up, and next thing it was being discussed on Sky News, and breakfast shows. There were tweets everywhere, and the theory was picked up by Washington Post and USA Today. Wild.

The reason behind the theory is that people believe Melania and Donald are getting a divorce (this has never been actually spoken of by the couple), or that she simply isn’t fussed about being a public figure (much more likely). So, instead of going to events and being seen out with her husband, she sends a double instead.

People have noticed Melania appears disinterested at public events, and there’s, erm, a distinct lack of chemistry between herself and Donald Trump. Since her husband became president, there have been articles such as a New York Times piece titled: “A Most Sensitive Subject in the White House: Where Is Melania?”. This claimed she had spent just 14 days in the White House, in the first 108 days after Trump’s inauguration.

Why are people talking about it again?

This weekend, Melania and Donald Trump attended a military parade in Washington. This coincided with Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. Since the body double allegations, people enjoy to watch every move Melania Trump makes at public events.

Melania attended the parade this weekend with Donald Trump, and said she appeared “distant” and “half asleep”. So… people think the stand in was there instead. Makes sense?

Has Trump ever spoken about the wild theory? Well, yes actually. Of course, he branded it “fake news” in 2018. But he would, wouldn’t he?
