The heterosexual pop girlies are once again kissing female dancers during their performances, with Jennifer Lopez being the most recent during her medley performance at the American Music Awards.

Singing and dancing to hits such as Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather, Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso, and Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em, Jennifer Lopez (for once) was the top performance at the AMAs on Sunday. During the show, she locked lips with her female dancers a number of times despite earlier saying, “No, I am not bisexual” in an interview with The Advocate. The reception was mixed, with some calling it a desperate attempt to “seem edgy” and others accusing her of queerbaiting for clout.

“When all else fails, queerbait for attention,” one person wrote on Twitter, as another said, “So unnecessary. Made me think instantly of Madonna and Britney, please be original next time.”

Someone else wrote: “Getting real tired of queerness being used as a prop for dramatic effect during performances, but in reality our rights are being stripped daily and we have a society that is going backwards, but hey THIS IS SEXY & FUN! Queerness is being used to make boring artists relevant again!”

Though Jennifer Lopez is yet to publicly comment on the messy AMAs performance, a source close to her has revealed some context to the kissy kissy moment.

So, why did Jennifer Lopez kiss her dancers at the AMAs?

Speaking to the MailOnline, an insider dished on the motivation behind Jennifer Lopez’s AMAs kissing moment, suggesting it had everything to do with her post-Ben Affleck game plan.

“JLo followed the direction of her PR and she did exactly what she was told to do for her post-Ben [Affleck] comeback,” they told the publication.

The source further alleged that she has no intention of listening to the haters, going as far as to say she is living her best life after divorcing Ben for a second time in January.

“She is living her best life and has zero f***s to give right now,” they added “She dealt with so much uncertainty, but she was brave. She did not allow the negative commentary to bring her down. Instead, she kept going and living her life.”

Jennifer is reportedly looking at a huge comeback in the coming months, but let’s just hope it’s more successful than her other attempts at getting back on top.
