All the celebrities who snubbed the AMAs this year and left the guest list looking flop

The 2025 American Music Awards last night, known colloquially as the AMAs, is being deemed a massive flop as everyone wonders where the hell all the actually good celebrities were. There was a distinct lack of star power at the AMAs, and all the big name celebrities apparently snubbed the awards show – even when they received a slew of nominations. Before the event itself, the lineup of performers were dragged for being a big list of khias – but the actual night itself has gone down badly with the invite list leaving a lot to be desired and barely an iconic moment in the house. Here’s a rundown of all the celebs who snubbed the AMAs 2025 and why this year’s has gone down so badly on social media.

‘Worst show ever’

It was meant to be an iconic awards show in the American calendar. None more so than for Taylor Swift fans, who were convinced she would be announcing the long awaited Reputation (Taylor’s Version) at some point during the show. Or, failing that, announce SOMETHING – and at least certainly be in attendance considering Taylor was nominated for six awards. She was one of many big nominated celebs who snubbed the AMAs 2025.

Other big names to snub the event were Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter and Billie Eilish – whose absence made the entire event seem way less culturally significant than it ever has in previous years.

Obviously, the biggest name was host and performer Jennifer Lopez, who admittedly did a big medley and tried her best to give audiences something worth tuning in for. But beyond her and Janet Jackson proving exactly why she’s one of the best living legends of music we have in the industry, it was all very lacklustre.

One tweet responding to the AMAs announcing that “all the stars” were seated for the awards got hit with a savage viral tweet saying “are the stars in the room?” because honestly, I would consider myself clued up with pop culture and the only person I recognise there is Shaboozey.

Another showed a video claiming even performers we saw live on TV weren’t there – with Gwen Stefani apparently pre recording the performance she did at the show.

It’s all been very flop. Bring back the icons!
