University of Leeds
University of Liverpool – £5 cost to students.
University of Exeter – £10 cost to students.
University of Leeds – £10 cost to students.
The University of Leeds told The Tab: “The price to replace lost cards does only to an extent factor in the cost of materials, consumables (e.g. printer ribbons), equipment (and equipment wear and tear and replacement), and staff processing time.
“The price for a replacement is, however, set at £10 as an encouragement for students to look after their student card or a deterrent from using it as a disposable item.”
London School of Economics – £10 cost to students.
LSE provided this reason for not holding the data: “We don’t have figures of cost per card and under Section 12 where cost of compliance exceeds appropriate limit. We have used this exemption because we do not hold the data in the way that you have requested it and therefore to produce it in the way requested would breach the cost limit.”
Southampton University – £10 cost to students.
The university’s reason for not providing the data on the creation cost of a replacement ID card is as follows: “We do not hold this information as we are unable to calculate the exact cost per card because it is dependent on various factors, including equipment, equipment maintenance, software and staff time.”
University College London – £0 cost to students, unless they have lost their card more than the allowed number of times. Then, it is £15.
UCL said: “The cost for students buying a replacement student ID is £15 per card. However, each individual receives a number of free replacements based on the duration of their stay at UCL. For example, an undergraduate on a three year course will receive three free ID cards before having to pay for any additional cards.”
