Vehicle catches fire at Edinburgh Airport

Emergency services were called to the blaze at 1:40pm on Saturday 17 May


Firefighters were called to Edinburgh Airport after a vehicle caught fire in the car park.

Social media posts circulating online show a vehicle on fire and a plume of black smoke rising into the air.

Firefighters were notified of the blaze at 1:40pm on Saturday 17 May, according to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

Edinburgh Airport has since confirmed that the fire has been extinguished by their onsite fire service and that an investigation will be conducted into the nature and cause of the fire.

A spokesman for the airport said: “Our fire service responded to and extinguished a vehicle fire within one of our car parks.

“An investigation is now taking place to determine the cause.”
