
Black smoke spotted across Manchester amid Salford fire: Here’s everything we know so far
Fire brigades were called to the blaze just before 1.50pm
Huge clouds of black smoke have been spotted across Manchester following a fire that has broken out in Salford.
Fire crews attended the scene on Duchy Road in Salford, after a fire involving a “large pile of tyres” was reported.

The smoke was visible from Manchester city centre and beyond, causing alarm across the city.
Videos have been posted to social media, detailing the extent of the smoke clouds. It is not yet confirmed if anyone has been injured in the incident.

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have issued the following statement in the wake of the blaze: “At shortly before 1.50pm on Tuesday (April 8th) two fire engines from Agecroft, Broughton and Salford fire stations were called to a fire involving a large pile of tyres off Duchy Road, Salford.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using jets to tackle the fire. Crews remain in attendance.”
