The next season of Fortnite is 35 days long!? Here are all the rumours and leaks to explain why
This is honestly going to be crazy
With the latest Fortnite update this week, something bizarre was in the files. Something that has every single player who keeps one eye on the game and one eye on the leaks scratching their heads. From what reputable leak Twitter accounts are reporting so far, the next season of Fortnite – which is only the third in the current Chapter 6 era – is only going to be 35 days long and contain just two updates. If you know anything about Fortnite, you’ll know this is totally bizarre. Here’s why the next Fortnite season is only a month long – according to all the leaks and rumours rumbled so far.
Let’s just say I hope you’re a fan of a certain sci-fi franchise…
After Tuesday’s update, the files showed to leakers that when Chapter 6 Season 2 ends, the next season would only have two updates and seemingly run at just 35 days. Of course, this is very jarring. For the last three chapters, the formula has been this. Four regular seasons, and then some kind of short, special season – like OG or Chapter 2 OG.
We’ve also gone a long time without any sort of surprise. In 2024, Epic Games received a major leak where the roadmap for their entire year with Fortnite leaked. This revealed all the themes of all the Chapters and any collabs they had in the pipeline across all modes. It’s only as we’ve got into 2025 that we’ve not really had any clue of where the game is going. So when the files showed that Fortnite was doing a month long season in the middle of a Chapter, it’s all been very confusing.
But leakers have quickly peaced together what it’s all for.
According to leaks, we’re getting a Star Wars season

Hot on the heels of a SECOND Marvel season, it’s looking like the long rumoured and whispered about Star Wars season is actually happening. So, Fortnite Chapter 6 will be going straight into a month season after this one – if the leaks stay the same. Unlike the Marvel seasons which were full length, this one is only 35 days and will likely have a smaller Battle Pass for everyone to complete.
I assume the Epic lot have chosen this season to be now to coincide with May 4th – because of all that May the fourth be with you nonsense that goes on every year.
Whilst we don’t know many details about it yet, I have to admit I’m not particularly thrilled. That’s obviously just because to be candid I do not care about Star Wars. I don’t care about Marvel much either, but always had fun with those seasons because the span of Marvel is so massive that there was always something fun to play with. To me, Star Wars is too specific. Mercifully, it’s at least only one month.
And whilst a full Star Wars season doesn’t thrill me with glee – I have to admit, throughout the MANY collaborations Fortnite has done so far with Star Wars for years there have always been a big host of fun weapons to play with.
The leaks are saying that we’re getting mythics, bosses and POIs. So even if you aren’t that arsed about playing as Star Wars skins from an inevitable Battle Pass, the gameplay is likely to be a riot. And you just know everyone’s going to be chomping at the bit to see if we’re finally going to be allowed to have lightsabers as a harvesting tool.
