Sheffield Varsity 2025: Big boxing win for University of Sheffield

University of Sheffield secured a big win over Sheffield Hallam in this year’s Varsity boxing event.

After 12 bouts in the Octagon Centre, eight went in favour of the team in black and gold, with four going the way of the maroon side.

University of Sheffield’s Dolly Forrester took the first victory of the night on a unanimous points decision in her exhibition bout – also later taking home the award for boxer of the night.

Further wins for the University of Sheffield came from split decisions in favour of Josh Kimble, Siddhant Agarwhal, and Dan Jarvis – with Ben Chilton’s decisive win being on another unanimous points decision.

For Hallam, Sebastian Tsemo, Dan Miles, and Mitchell Jones won on split decisions.

John Joe Wallace took another for Hallam’s red corner after the referee stopped the fight – as was the case in Luke Tyson’s win for the blue corner.

Clem Pratt and Edlin Josey Kanichayi secured two further victories for the University of Sheffield, with the towel having been thrown in for their respective opponents.

Over the course of the evening, all 24 competitors gave their all and fought with tenacity, skill, and respect.

Elsewhere over the weekend, University of Sheffield secured the points in endurance cycling, Men’s 1s dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, and three hockey matches

The two teams drew in Men’s 2s Dodgeball and it was 2-2 at full time in the Men’s 2s hockey.

Tomorrow – football, cricket, and rugby will be in action at SHU Sports Park from 11am.
