Your guide to Super Saturday: Here’s how to spend it in Cardiff
Whether you’re watching from the Principality, the pub, or at home – it’s not one to miss
Super Saturday is an immense event in any rugby fan or patriot’s calendar, as it marks the final weekend of the Six Nations Rugby Championship.
The Six Nations series is one of the biggest events in the rugby union calendar and brings together the best teams in Europe for a competitive display of rugby.
Super Saturday however, is the closing day of the series and sees all teams play on the same day across the continent.
Fixtures
The matches run throughout the day, and this is how Super Saturday on the 15th March is lined up this year:
- Italy vs Ireland, 2.15pm. Stadio Olimpico, Rome
- Wales vs England, 4.45pm. Principality Stadium, Cardiff
- France vs Scotland, 8pm. Stade de France, Paris
Fixtures amongst the six nations rotate yearly and sees countries taking their turn in hosting the team they played away to the year before.
Since England hosted Wales in the in the championship last year, it’s Wales turn to host the challenge on home soil.
This year has already seen Wales host Ireland and is set to welcome England to the Principality on the 15th March. AKA Super Saturday.

If you’re a Super Saturday beginner, here’s how we suggest to tackle the day:
Firstly, it is often a day full of drinking, with the first match kicking off at 2pm and the final whistle of the day being at around 10pm, you need some good food for fuel.
A good brunch to begin the day is highly recommended. Get your rugby shirt on and head out for some food before hitting the pub to watch the first game.
The final game of the day is fun to watch in town if you’re looking for a good atmosphere and some passionate fans.
Grab some chips from Cardiff’s notorious Chippy Lane and continue your night in town either celebrating a country win, or drowning your sorrows at a loss (sorry Wales fans).
However you celebrate this Super Saturday, enjoy the patriotic display of rugby and revel in the fact that Cardiff are hosting their final test match.
