Clueless influencer roasted after moving to Dubai because the UK is ‘not safe’ anymore

‘I’ve just felt so uninspired from a work perspective’

After revealing that he’d move to Dubai because London is “not safe” anymore, influencer Oli White Found found himself roasted by people in the comments who questioned whether the United Arab Emirates is really that much safer.

From the influencer who wasn’t allowed in the gym, to the one who sued an airline over a crying toddler, most of us just love dragging a clueless content creator into the real world. Oli White found this out for himself earlier this week and his original post has since received over 7.1 million views.

In a Twitter post on Sunday, Oli said: “I’m leaving the UK and moving to a different country. Now I’ve lived in London for about 10 years or so, and when I first moved here it was so exciting and there were so many opportunities and it was just an amazing place to be.

“But after the thing that happened where we couldn’t leave our houses, things just changed, like London has never been the same. The UK has never been the same. It’s unsafe, you can’t even walk down the road holding your phone without fear of someone stealing it. And I’ve just felt so uninspired from a work perspective but also just living my life.”

Oli put together a cute little montage of him moving, which included defrosting the freezer and cleaning out his wine cooler. After a six-hour flight he was officially moved to Dubai.

“It’s sunny all year round here, which is something I’d been desperately missing in the UK. It’s one of the safest cities in the world, you can leave a watch or a handbag on the side in a restaurant and no one will even look at it,” he continued in the voiceover. There is zero tax, that’s right, you pay zero tax here. The opportunities are absolutely endless.”

Oli said he was “buzzing” to be in Dubai and his next task was finding an apartment.

People are dragging the influencer over his move to Dubai

A few years back there was this trend of influencers and TikTok content creators moving to Dubai largely because of the zero-tax and Instagram-ready weather that meant they could constantly be filming content. Is it happening again?

Dubai is in fact one of the safer cities in the Middle East and one that people often speak about as some miraculous utopia with zero issues, but that isn’t the case.

People did not hold back in the comments, as one person said: “Dubai isn’t some progressive paradise. It’s a place where women can be jailed for reporting rape, punished for pregnancy outside marriage, and trapped in abusive marriages with no legal recourse.

“These ‘creators’ aren’t fleeing for safety, they’re fleeing tax bills. They build their wealth in the UK, then take it elsewhere to avoid contributing to the society that enabled their success. There’s nothing progressive about hoarding wealth while refusing to give back, especially when the ‘utopia’ they run to is built on exploited foreign labour with no rights.”

“*so uninspired*… moves to the most artificial and soulless place on earth,” another said.

A third wrote: “I wish influencers would just admit they don’t want to pay tax rather than glamorising a place with no history and a lack of human rights built on a desert.”
