Buffy and Gossip Girl star Michelle Trachtenberg has died, aged 39

Icon of both film and TV in the 1990s and 2000s, it has been reported actress Michelle Trachtenberg has died aged 39.
Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles in Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died at the age of 39. Her death was announced on Wednesday, and she was widely recognised for her work in both film and television throughout the 90s and early 2000s.
Law enforcement officials told The New York Post that the cause of her death remains undetermined. She was reportedly found around 8 a.m. at One Columbus Place, a 51-store luxury apartment complex on Central Park South.
She first gained recognition as a child actor, starring in the popular 90s series The Adventures of Pete & Pete and later making an impact with a standout role in Harriet the Spy. Trachtenberg’s big break came in the early 2000s when she joined the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Dawn Summers. Michelle Trachtenberg’s work in Buffy saw her star alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy’s sister in a widely acclaimed storyline for the last three seasons. Joining the cast and having to play a role treated as if she was always there was no easy feat – and Trachtenberg pulled it off with ease and talent.
She was well known also for her part in Gossip Girl – where Michelle Trachtenberg played the unforgettable role of Georgina Sparks both in the show’s original run and reprising it briefly for the reboot.Trachtenberg’s career was marked by her versatility, effortlessly transitioning between genres, from family-friendly projects to darker, more dramatic roles.

Michelle Trachtenberg in January was said to have reassured concerned fans for her wellbeing, saying she was “happy and healthy.”
