Brian Laundrie’s sister speaks out after Gabby Petito doc and angrily defends her brother
Cassie also revealed where she stands with her parents
Brian Laundrie’s sister Cassie briefly features in Netflix’s new American Murder documentary about Gabby Petito, and she’s spoken out since its release.
“No one from any family contacted me until Detective Barry called me. Det Barry gravely miscommunicated what I told her in the phone,” she angrily wrote on Instagram.
This was in response to the part of the docuseries where Suffolk County detective Tracey Barry recalled a phone call she had with Cassie in 2021.

She claimed Cassie told them Brian was at home in Florida after he and Gabby got into a fight, so he flew home and left her at a hotel.
However, Brian’s sister is now denying that she said that during the phone call, claiming the whole conversation was “miscommunicated”.
“If you’re new here. And just starting to attack me today. I’ve been non-contact with my parents for almost two years. Have fun,” she added in the caption.
Cassie may have stopped all contact with her parents, but she angrily defended her brother in a November post, claiming he was the one who experienced domestic violence.
“I told law enforcement about all the DV that happened to my brother in the years. I told media. I told lawyers. The narrative stays. At this point it’s ridiculous,” she wrote.
In the caption, Cassie told people to “do some real investigation” and said: “News outlets aren’t investigative.”
She also publicly campaigned for Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month in September, posting: “As a third year passes by and we miss him. I hope the stigmas of #dvagainstmen can be helped for all our sons.”

“As someone who has lost loved ones to suicide I want to post this here,” she added before sharing some signs to watch out for that someone is considering suicide.
Brian Laundrie died by suicide in Florida’s Carlton Memorial Reserve and his skeletal remains were found on October 20.
In a note, he admitted to killing Gabby but claimed he thought it was “merciful” because she had fallen and was in pain. These claims did not match up with her autopsy report.
“I have killed myself by this creek in the hopes that animals may tear me apart. That it may make some of her family happy. Please pick up all of my things. Gabby hated people who litter,” he wrote.
