I’ve got my girls! Here’s our top seven Galentine’s ideas for the single Lancs gals
Grab the camembert and a bottle of Aldi’s finest wine, it’s girls night x
It’s February in Lancs, and while this is supposed to be the season of love, we’re all currently bogged down with deadlines and dissertation seasons – not very relaxing or romantic at all. It may be getting increasingly hard to find a date where all of our friends are free for a catch up, but you’re in luck because Galentine’s is here and it’s the one time of year where there are zero excuses to back out of friend group plans. If you’re in Lancs, you’re in the plans. This is the one night of the uni year that you can INSIST your friends plan a night in or a night out, no ifs or buts allowed.
Don’t have any plans just yet? Just grab a face mask and let us do the planning – we’ve come up with our top seven ideas for the perfect Galentine’s day in Lancaster with your besties, just in time for the season of love.
Board night

We’re in awe
It’s simple, it’s cheap, it’s a classic Galentine’s plan and you can’t get much better than a gossip over cheese and wine with your friends. You can go boogie like the people in this friend group (is that a chocolate dipping pot? And ROASTED marshmallows?!) or you can just grab some cheap Aldi wine, a selection of cheeses and some pitta bread! Soon you’ll be chatting away about your degrees, the drama from your last society social, and Hinge’s best (and worst) prospects.
Pottery painting

A masterpiece
Most Read
It’s probably a bit too late to book into Pottyroos in Morecambe for your Galentine’s plans, but if you’ve postponed your get together until a non-weekday, then why not book in at our favourite pottery painting place as a special treat? We’d definitely recommend getting fish and chips from The Pier Hotel afterwards if you want a classic pub lunch!
Spa night
Spa nights are the PERFECT budget-friendly Galentine’s plan. Grab a £1 face mask from Poundland, throw together the random hair mask and facial cream pouches you got in the Fresher’s Fair and chop up a cucumber for some eye masks and there you have it! You can have a gossip with your friends, find the cheesiest rom-com Netflix has to offer, or even get some fun crafting done – a definite must for our stressed Lancs girls in the middle of their dissertations.
Try out one of Lancs’ many cafés
What Lancaster lacks in clubs, it makes up for in cafés. Our personal favourites are The Herbarium, Journey Social (we still sometimes dream of their French toast) and Cafe Dolcé. We honestly don’t think anyone can say they’ve tried every coffee shop in Lancs, so why not do your best to complete that bucket list and try out a new breakfast spot?
Go to an escape room
If you fancy a bit more of an action-packed Galentine’s, why not try out Lancaster Escape Rooms on North Road to test out how you and your friend group act under pressure?
Karaoke night
Desperate to recreate Sugar’s Disney night? Did you miss it and are so devastated you feel the need to find the next best thing? (Guilty). Maybe you just want to belt your favourite songs somewhere other than the shower? Pull up YouTube, grab the Aldi wine from your cheese night, and try not to deafen your neighbours with your best cover of Defying Gravity.
Crafting night
Live in a houseful of creative girls? Even if your crafting skills can be beaten by a five year old making pine cone Christmas trees in golden time, there are loads of easy crafts that you can get involved with alongside your besties to create the perfect Galentine’s. Some of the many options are:
Grab your housemates some cheap mini canvas’ from The Works and try and paint your favourite thing in your uni house – then compare! It’s the perfect paint and sip night.
Get some cheap glasses from Poundland and use Pinterest for your best painting inspo – be careful with non-food safe paint, though!
If you’re celebrating after Valentine’s, buy the discounted flowers from your closest supermarket and try your hand at flower arranging.
Grab some paper and pens and fold a piece paper as many times as there are people in your friend group. Take turns drawing part of a body (get creative: think, an Aperol Spritz bottle for a body and tennis sticks for legs!) without looking at what the last person drew. Unfold the drawing at the end for some laughs – and some rogue decorations for your flat!
