‘It broke his heart’: Travis Kelce responds to Taylor Swift getting booed at Super Bowl

After Taylor Swift was booed during the Super Bowl on Sunday, a source close to Travis Kelce revealed his thoughts on the matter after he seemed to back Donald Trump’s appearance at the sporting event.

A week before the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs came face to face on the football field, players from both teams reacted to the news that Donald Trump would be making an appearance. At the time, Travis was slammed for his “political response” because of Trump’s history of attacking his girlfriend.

“I think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool,” he said.

Despite seemingly backing the President, sports fans gave Taylor Swift no grace as sounds of booing erupted throughout the stadium when she was shown on the screen. Now, a source close to Travis has revealed his true feelings towards the moment.

Though Travis Kelce was undoubtedly focused on the game during Sunday’s Super Bowl – which in itself was pointless because they still lost – the sounds of his girlfriend being booed were surely distressing.

“Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him,” the source told the MailOnline. “He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.”

The source theorised that the negativity could have been created because Taylor, who is from Pennsylvania, once supported the Philadelphia Eagles before dating Travis.

“It’s clear to many that the Eagles fans feel she is a traitor of sorts – being from Pennsylvania and even wearing Eagles gear prior to dating him. Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honoured for a president to be there,” they explained.

“After Taylor being shut out for a Grammy and Travis losing the biggest game of the year it just hasn’t been a good week for them. But he knows that even though this is not a happy ending to the season having her love gives him so much joy.”
